An aggregator's out-of-serviceability error means that the platform could not book the shipment through the carriers and services it has; it does not tell you whether Shadowfax can carry the order on our own network. Below, we show how to check a rural or Northeast route with us, leg by leg, and turn that error into a booking decision.
The courier that covers a rural or Northeast PIN code reliably is the one that can book every leg of your exact order: pickup from your origin, delivery to the customer's PIN, COD if you need it, and the return leg if the parcel comes back. Shadowfax runs its own nationwide network across 16,372+ PIN codes and 2,500+ cities, covering pickup, last-mile delivery, and returns under one roof. So when an aggregator flags a rural destination as unserviceable, check the route directly in Shadowfax. Our serviceability check confirms each leg separately, and the result is specific to your account and shipment type, not a generic coverage map.
A headline PIN-code count is a starting point. What decides the order is whether the lane you need is live for the service you ship on. That is why we built the check around legs and tiers rather than a single yes or no, and why you can compare our published network reach with a route-level check before you commit stock to a new region.
An unserviceable response can come from three different problems, and each one has a different fix. The destination may be outside the network for the service you chose. The address or PIN may be malformed or wrong. Or the PIN may be covered, but not on the service tier your account ships on. In Shadowfax, a forward order touches two or three locations, and each is checked separately, so a serviceable customer PIN is not enough on its own: the pickup and return legs must pass too.
Our developer documentation records the most common cause of a confusing rejection: the customer PIN checks out, but the pickup or return leg does not, and the order is refused. When order placement rejects a forward order, the message names the failing leg, for example, "Invalid Pickup Pincode. Pickup pincode 560058 is not serviceable".
Two details matter for anyone reading raw responses. A well-formed PIN outside the network still returns a tier list, so a non-empty response is not proof of coverage; look for your tier. And PIN codes you asked about can be missing from the response entirely, so compare the reply against what you sent.
In Shadowfax, you verify a hard route in five checks: the destination PIN on your service tier, the pickup origin, forward booking with COD, the return leg, and the transit commitment for that lane. Our forward-delivery serviceability checks expose each leg separately through one endpoint, and Shadowfax 360 gives smaller sellers pincode-level serviceability lookups from the dashboard.
Our serviceability reference has the full mapping of services to tiers for both supply chains, including a worked example.
These checks also make a good set of questions for any carrier you test on a rural lane: Is pickup from my origin live? Is delivery live on my tier, not just listed? Can this order go COD? Where does a failed delivery return, and is that leg live? What is the committed transit time on this pair?
For Northeast and deep-rural PIN codes, run the route check with Shadowfax first, then settle three things before you show a delivery date at checkout: the committed transit time for that lane, how failed deliveries will be handled, and how address errors stay out of the network. Our Shadowfax D2C shipping and returns service handles pickup, last mile, Reverse Logistics, and RTO for these orders, with AI-powered address verification and fraud control to reduce failed delivery attempts.
An aggregator's carrier list shows what that platform can book through its integrations and settings. Shadowfax is a direct logistics partner with its own network, so when you check a route with us, you are asking the company that will pick up, deliver, and return the parcel. You get direct accountability on the lane, which a platform without control over carrier operations cannot give you.
That check is backed by our scale: 200 crore+ parcels delivered, 3,500+ trucks running daily, 53 lakh+ sq. ft. of processing space, 2.9 lakh+ quarterly delivery partners, and 98%+ of orders delivered on time. Brands such as Nykaa, Myntra, AJIO, Zara, H&M, Adidas, Decathlon, Puma, Meesho, Mokobara and Dot & Key rely on our network. AJIO puts it this way: "Shadowfax has been Reliance and Ajio's trusted partner for over eight years, consistently delivering top performance with the lowest cancellation and RTO rates in forward logistics, as well as the fastest speed and accuracy in return pickups."
You do not need enterprise volume to reach the same network. Shadowfax 360 is our digital shipping platform for D2C brands and SMEs:
Create your account with email and OTP verification, add your details, verify your business, connect your store, and recharge your wallet. From there, you can check serviceability, create orders individually or in bulk, and track them in real time. For API integrations, your Shadowfax integration contact confirms which tier your account is configured for.
Order placement re-checks serviceability for every leg. A rejection after a green check usually means a leg you did not check, most often the return leg. If the leg you checked passed and placement still rejects it, raise it with your integration contact instead of retrying.
Yes, before dispatch. You can update delivery details, including address, PIN code, and contact, until the order enters the return journey or reaches a terminal status such as delivered or cancelled. After a failed attempt, you can update the address and reopen the order for another delivery.
Multi-package orders use a separate endpoint and ship as one order, with a parent AWB and a child AWB for each box. Shadowfax treats them as warehouse, surface-service orders, so check the surface tier on each leg.
Take the PIN codes your aggregator rejected last month, split them by origin, and run them through Shadowfax leg by leg. The ones that pass on your tier are orders you can start booking. For the lanes you plan to grow, ask us for a route-specific transit commitment before you open them at checkout.
